ABOUT THE PROJECT
How can we find our unique voice in today’s increasingly complex world? How can we be true to our self and at the same time make a contribution to the whole? These are real questions that confront many young people today. We all need to understand what it means to be connected and bear responsibility for each other and the planet.
There is a great quote by Sufi teacher, Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, in which he describes the simplicity of this awareness:
“Oneness is very simple: everything is included and allowed to live according to its true nature. This is the opportunity that is offered. How we make use of this opportunity depends upon the degree of our participation, how much we are prepared to give ourselves to the freedom that needs to be lived.”
These words encourage us to live our true self. It may sound easy, but as many of us know, it is a real challenge to find and maintain our true voice, and to live this truth rather than being caught by all the pressures around us. Imagine if we each lived from the fullest expression of who we are. What potential this would have. How it could help us to confront the challenges that confront us, both individually and together.
The aim of this project is to be a meeting place for us, the current generation of young people. Regardless of diverse backgrounds or spiritual inclination, everyone is welcome. Through writing, video, and public meetings we will explore the different ways in which oneness is lived. After all, as Don Alverto Taxo, a South American Quichua elder put it wisely: “It is dangerous to search for unity when diversity ends.”
